Let's face it, there's probably not a person in the entire world who hasn’t suffered from a headache at some time in their life.
If you’re a healthy individual, you probably get headaches occasionally. Although these headaches are annoying, they should not interfere with the normal course of your day.
However, for some individuals, headaches are absolutely disabling, so severe that they have to leave work early, cancel social obligations, and miss out on living their life to the fullest.

Both types of headaches can be completely disabling. In fact, cluster headaches are sometimes called "suicide headaches" due to their intensity.
The term "suicide headaches" is appropriate because I too was once tormented by searing pains through my eyes so badly that I almost begged someone to cut my head off to escape the agony.

Basically, I stopped living my life. I revised my entire schedule to accommodate these tyrannical headaches. I avoided going out to prevent exposure to noise or bright lights that could trigger an attack. I never went far from home because the blurry vision accompanying the headaches made it unsafe for me to drive back home.
I also stopped exercising, fearing that increased blood flow would trigger the pounding in my head. The same was true for sex—I feared orgasms would trigger stabbing pain in my head.
I was trapped in a terrible chronic pain loop that I couldn’t escape. I drove my loved ones crazy with my constant complaints. I became a broken record, constantly saying, "No, I can't do this or that because I have a headache!"
Eventually, they stopped including me in their plans because my woes put a damper on things. I became depressed and isolated, which in turn increased my anxiety and stress, trapping me further in a vicious circle of relentless cluster headaches.
My doctors prescribed everything from beta blockers (to narrow the blood vessels pounding in my head) to antidepressants (to cheer me up in case anxiety was causing the headaches) to OxyContin (a powerful addictive narcotic that reduced the pain but made me completely dysfunctional).
By the time I had taken all these medications, my headaches were worse, my judgment was off, and I gained a lot of weight! It took me a year to discover natural solutions and therapies that eventually allowed me to reduce my dependency on painkillers and live my life without the constant fear of another debilitating cluster headache.
